Nowadays it’s nice to be a kid attending a school in San Diego as the local Unified School District has bought no less than 26,000 iPads which are going to be used in classrooms, starting with fifth graders and up to those who are seniors in high school. This acquisition is apparently one of the largest educational-related iPad rollouts. These tablets are going to be used in 340 classrooms starting with the upcoming fall.

The San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) has achieved to obtain the necessary funding through Proposition S, which is a fund that was approved back in 2008 by 69% of the voters. This is a program that attempts to update the classrooms in terms of technology. The main reason why they decided to buy these tablets was that they believe that these iPads are going to be more engaging for the students, thus allowing them to focus better while at school. We should mention that the teachers will also be able to use iPads, allowing them to send notes to the kids and also update the assignments.

The first batch of iPads will arrive this fall in fifth and eighth grade schools, as well as some high schools. Although there is info that these tablets have already been purchased, there are no details concerning the software which will be installed on them.
